If you're looking for a pointless blog about the mundane, trivial aspects of society, this is not for you. I will, however, try my best to post a myriad of pertinent articles and pictures, in an attempt to satisfy the intellectual hunger that I do believe still exists somewhere out there in people I haven't met yet. (All while staying true to myself of course) Please feel free to talk to me. About anything, really.

A soul connection is a resonance between two people who respond to the essential beauty of each other’s individual natures, behind their facades, and who connect on this deeper level. This kind of mutual recognition provides the catalyst for a potent alchemy. It is a sacred alliance whose purpose is to help both partners discover and realize their deepest potentials. While a heart connection lets us appreciate those we love just as they are, a soul connection opens up a further dimension — seeing and loving them for who they could be, and for who we could become under their influence. This means recognizing that we both have an important part to play in helping each other become more fully who we are….A soul connection not only inspires us to expand, but also forces us to confront whatever stands in the way of that expansion.

The lotus is the most beautiful flower, whose petals open one by one. But it will only grow in the mud. In order to grow and gain wisdom, first you must have the mud —- the obstacles of life and its suffering. The mud speaks of the common ground that humans share, no matter what our stations in life. Whether we have it all or we have nothing, we are all faced with the same obstacles: sadness, loss, illness, dying and death. If we are to strive as human beings to gain more wisdom, more kindness and more compassion, we must have the intention to grow as a lotus and open each petal one by one.

It’s like.. I can almost see one of us in him. The sadness in his eyes is unbearable.

There are so many people who do such amazing things in the duration of their lives. And then there are so many people who do the opposite. Take tumblr for example. Type in any hashtag and see the opposites that the search results entail. “Baby” is one of my favorites, along with “animals.” Some babies are so lucky to be born into the family they have. Their parents take care of them and go above and beyond to make sure that their child knows that he or she is loved, everyday. On the opposite side of the spectrum are all of those children who aren’t as lucky. Perhaps their family didn’t expect them, or maybe they did. But there are so many children that are neglected, and even abused. And I’m not even talking about those in third world countries, because that’s another story for another day. My mom works with preschoolers and sees this every day. And it’s not fair. Every child deserves an even start to set them up for success. Just like a convicted criminal’s fate lies in the ideology of the judge in charge of determining his or her sentence (so in essence two people that commit the same crime can have totally different sentences) is unfair, it is not right that it is just the luck of the draw whether one child is given the necessities of life and genuinely taken care of well or not. I know, “life isn’t fair,” but this is one thing that really bothers me. I just want to take every neglected child and “save” them. I want to wash them, feed them, read a story to them, do arts and crafts, and tuck them in at night. I see examples of bad parenting virtually everyday and it is simply disgusting. And obviously this is analogous to the search results of “animals” and animal cruelty. I really don’t understand how anyone can do anything but love animals and children. They love their family so much. We owe it to them to reciprocate that love.
